William E. (Bill) Simon passed away September 7, 2018 at home after an eight month battle to overcome the disabling effects of a series of strokes. He was born on December 16, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri and and moved with his family to Wing, Al as a young boy. After graduating from Pleasant Home High School in 1959, he joined the U. S. He then began his career as a C130 mechanic for the U.S. Government at Duke Field and as a member of the U. S. Airforce Reserve. He was deployed to Afghanistan during the Gulf War. He retired from both in 1998. He loved anything mechanical, especially cars. He loved drag racing and dirt track racing and attended races regularly. After purchasing his dream car, a 1957 Chevy he and his wife joined the local classic car club, the Spanish Trail Cruisers, and enjoyed the activities and friendships of being a member.

His family would like to thank all of the therapist and medical personnel who worked so hard to help him recover. We also want to acknowledge all of the friends and family members who extended their love, support and prayers. You will never know how much it meant to us.
