Almena (Powell) Blackburn, age 84, of Crestview passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her home. She was born on February 25, 1936 to Vinnie and Tillman Powell in Lake City, South Carolina. She was an independent lady that liked to have company in her house. She loved to hear stories from her family members. Her family will always remember her feisty spirit. Almena was a wonderful mother and great cook. She would do anything for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Tesla Blackburn; brother, T.J. Powell; brother-in-law, Allen Anderson; and granddaughter, Amber Kay Whittington Mobley.
Almena is survived by her sons, John Spencer Blackburn (Billie) and James Brent Blackburn (Tabby); daughters, Brenda Lisa Urich (Roy) and Venisa Lee Boan; sister, Evelina Rebecca Powell Anderson; grandchildren, Lindsey Blackburn, Travis Stercho, Dakota Blackburn, Brody Boan, Joselyn Blackburn, and Miranda Everhart; and great grandchildren, Dylan Nobrego, Brandon Mobley, and Ashton Mobley.
The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would like money donated to the Dorcas Cemetery Fund.
