Amanda Jean Herbert

Amanda Herbert, age 44 passed away Monday the 9th of August 2021 at her home in Baker, FL. She was born in Washington DC to Thomas and Yvonne Smith. Amanda spent her childhood in Savannah where she graduated from Herschel V Jenkins High School in 1995. After which she enlisted in the US Army as a medical logistics specialist. She was stationed at Ft Benning, Ga. On November 10th, 1997, Amanda was married to Brian M. Herbert in Savannah, GA. In 2010 Amanda graduated from the University of Wisconsin Green-Bay with a psychology degree, and in June of 2019, she graduated with her Nursing degree. Amanda was an amazing woman with a personality that drew people to her and was extremely passionate about helping others which made her an exceptionally talented and dedicated nurse. She was a dedicated mother to her cherished son Jacob Herbert (22years old) and her precious daughter Madeline Herbert (13 years old).  She was extremely close to her two sisters Dawn Grogan and Jennifer Pierson, as well as her Aunt Rhonda Benoit. Amanda was a powerful Christian woman with a caring heart and electric personality and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.

Amanda was preceded in death by her grandparents Wallace and Betty Benoit, Theresa A. Sanson and Herman M. Smith and step-father Maurice T.J. Sanson; Uncles, Rene Benoit and Herman Smith; Step-father, Grant Strahle and her brother, Thomas “Little Tom” Smith, brother in law Ronald Pierson.

Amanda is survived by her husband Brian Herbert, Mother Yvonne Strahle, Father Thomas Smith, Step-Mother Christina “Chris” Smith, Sisters, Dawn Grogan and Jennifer Pierson, step brothers Thomas and Marcus Strahle, her son Jacob Herbert, daughter Madeline Herbert.

A memorial of Amanda’s life will be on Saturday the 14th of August from 3:00 to 5:00 with religious services being held immediately after and will be presided by Pastor Carlos Coleman of New Birth Outreach Church of Columbus, GA.
