Annelle A. Whitehurst, 94, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Crestview Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Greenwood, Florida, and had resided in Crestview since 1955. She was a graduate of Florida State University. She worked with the Okaloosa County School District teaching second grade at Northwood Elementary and was the librarian at Bob Sikes Elementary School for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George H. Whitehurst, Jr., and her first-born son, George H. Whitehurst, III (Sonny).
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Chuck Freeman, and Ann and Billy McGraw. Grandchildren, Brooke Turner, Wesley Freeman, Rebecca Joseph, Ryan Berry, and Hanna Carroll, and her Great Grandchildren, Mason, Cole Henry, Ryder, Brinley, Case Parker, Eva, and Prudence.
A time of visitation will be held at 1:00pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Cadenhead and Rev. Bill McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery with Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home directing.
