Barbara Ann Barrow

Barbara Ann Barrow, age 69, passed away on August 28, 2023. She was born in Andalusia, Alabama on April 1, 1954, to Ralph and Annie Cleghorn.

 Three words come to mind when thinking about Barbara: Fierce, Stubborn and Loving. She kept everyone on their toes.  She wore many hats; She worked at a nursing home as an event coordinator, and she owned a ceramic shop, amongst other endeavours. She has helped people in different ways, be it, listening and offering guidance or lending a hand. Through all that her favorite hat of all was being a devoted Wife,  loving Mother and Nana.

Barbara met the love of her life, Donnie Marvin Barrow, where she grew up in Andalusia and shortly thereafter married on June 29, 1972. They went on to have 3 children and throughout time adopted many others. What filled her heart the most was her family. We will always remember her as the loving while tough sometimes, strong willed woman she is. Whether we called her Mama, Nana, by name, she will be in our hearts always. 

Barbara is preceded in death by; Husband, Donnie Barrow, Parents; Ralph and Annie Cleghorn. Sister; Mary, Brother Hubert and Herman.

 She is survived by Children, Jason Barrow, Daniel Barrow and Jessica Camp. Brother’s; Theo Holloway and Johnny Ray. Daughter in law; Elena Barrow and to be Carmella Hernandez. Son in Law; Elliott. Grandchildren: Jaxon, who she adored, Matthew, Madison, Donovan, Brady and Delilah. Great Grandchildren due in September and January. Best Friend; Vickie Stewart and many other adopted children, family and friends.

A time of visitation will be held on September 1, 2023 from 10-11:00am at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the funeral service starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Almarante Cemetery.
