Betty Gober, age 84, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 4, 1936 in Lexington, Mississippi to Grady and Clora Kuhn. Betty worked for 41 years in the lunchroom for the Okaloosa School Board. She also worked 38 years as a lunchroom attendant at the Crestview Manor. She had two passions in life, her work and her family. Betty loved serving the children and the elderly as both of her jobs. She loved her family with the same passion and affection. You could often find her at the Dollar General Store or Walmart shopping for those that she cared for. She gave her whole life serving and caring for others. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 29 years, William Gober, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, David Gober, Richard Gober, William Gober III, and Michael Gober; daughter, Susan Gober; grandchildren, Randee Brown, Kristie Sauer, Zach Gober, Nicholas Gober, Moriah Gober, Ian Gober, Andrew Appelberg, and Josh Appelberg; and great grandchildren, Conner, Cole, Talan, Graham, Brooklyn, Abram, and Jana.
A visitation will take place Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Betty’s funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. following the visitation with Reverend Doctor Donnie Cadenhead officiating. She will be buried at Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery.
