Billy Simmons

Billy Wayne Simmons, age 69, passed away July 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born January 7, 1952 to Mary L. and Charles Wayne Simmons. Billy proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Laurel Hill, Florida and was saved before his passing. Billy loved Go Kart racing at Oak Grove in Laurel Hill, wood working, and Nascar racing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Ezra; nephew, Daniel Smith; and niece Mary Smith Williams; brother-in-law, Ronnie Childs.

Billy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Gladys Simmons; children, Christopher Simmons (Jenny), Dusti Lynn Simmons, Amanda Miller (Ron), and Timothy Ard; brothers, Roger D. Simmons (Linda), Darrell B Simmons(Lisa), Scotty Simmons; sister, Vivian Lynn Smith (Larry); sisters-in-law, Diane Childs and Sarah Kemp (Jerry); grandchildren, Ryan Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Justin Simmons, Lauren Mathis, Zach Pool, Khasen Owens, Justin Miller, Jason Miller, Nicole Miller, Cortney Ard, Joshua Ard, and Victoria Ard; great grandchildren, Raylon Mathis, Ava Mathis, Emmett Simmons, Kallun Simmons, and Blaire Pool; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 beginning at  11:00 a.m. A burial will be held at Svea Cemetery in Laurel Hill, weather permitting.
