Catherine "Cass" Sherwood

   Cass Sherwood, age 90, of Crestview, Florida, passed away on Thursday August 18, 2022, at her home. She was born in Ashland, NJ on April 2, 1932, to Gustavus and Anne Diaz. After graduating high school, she married Wayne Sherwood. They began their life together in Barrington, NJ until moving to Pompano Beach, FL in 1973. After retirement in 1992, she and Wayne moved to Crestview, FL. They regularly attended church including First United Methodist, First Baptist, Emmanuel Baptist, and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She loved everything cats. Cass was a member of TOPS for many years. She loved everyone and was known for her bright smile and warm hugs. At family gatherings, she always made desserts. She was known for her pumpkin and pecan pies in addition to her July 4th patriotic desserts. Cass was Mom-Mom to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Sherwood, and a grandson, Ricky Santiago.

         Cass is survived by her husband of 70 years, Wayne Sherwood; daughter, Debbie McDougald and her husband Tom; son, Glen Sherwood; brother, Jack Diaz and his wife Kay; 9 grandchildren: Gary, Tammy, Shawn, Abigail, Eddie, Melissa, Cliff, Jon, and Tony; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

          The celebration of Cass’s life will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m.
