Cecil O. “Bill” Rogers

Bill Rogers of Crestview, Florida, departed this life on Monday, May 11, 2020, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Bill was born to Oliver Bryan Rogers and Irene “Geanie” Rogers (Thomas) on January 18, 1944.

Bill was a well established environmental contractor, building contractor, land owner and developer. He was an astute and accomplished businessman. He was the owner of several successful businesses and developed many local subdivisions. He was well known by those who worked with and for him as a mentor with a relentless work ethic. His personal motto, “honor your word”, speaks volumes about how Bill approached both his business and personal life. A devoted family man with a deep dedication to his church, Central Baptist, Bill spent countless hours and resources to help those within the community in need.

Bill was also an avid outdoorsman. He diligently developed and preserved the acreage surrounding his home which became a sanctuary for many species of plants and animals. For this work, he received special recognition from The Wild Turkey Federation and the Florida Wildlife Habitat Program.

Most notably, Bill Rogers was greatly respected and loved by many. He had a lasting, positive impact on the people and lives he touched. He will be remembered as “always being there” by those lucky enough to have known him. Though he will be missed every moment, his legacy will will carry on through his children and grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Buddy Rogers. Survivors include his loving and devoted spouse, Barbara Rowell; children: Bryan Rogers and Kellie Wilsdorf (Terry); grandchildren: Austin, Wynn and Elizabeth Rogers ; Sarah Katherine, Caroline and Grant Wilsdorf; sisters: Mary Page, Marti Rogers, Ann Kolmetz (Victor), and Carol Barberree (Glenn); numerous nieces and nephews and a myriad of beloved friends.

The celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at 2:30 in the afternoon with Reverend Paul Mixon of Central Baptist Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the same location at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to the Building Fund of Central Baptist Church.
