Charles Edgington Obituary

Charles A. Edgington

Charles entered the heavenly realm May 28, 2021, after a brief illness and passed away at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, Florida.

Charles, born March 6, 1932, in Ross County, Ohio, was the second child of Carl Wilson and Clara (Bay) Edgington.

He graduated from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, Ohio, in 1950. He entered the United States Air Force and  served his country proudly.

He graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky, and on July 6, 1956, he married Anna Elizabeth Casey from Waddy, Kentucky.  After their marriage they moved to California, and he attended Golden Gate Seminary at Mill Valley, California.

Charles and Libby were proud parents to three children.  Ken (Carolyn) Edgington of Clermont, Florida; Keith (Sonja) Edgington of Loudonville, Ohio; and Karen (Luke) Edgington-Philpott of Andalusia, Alabama.

Charles’s heart’s desire was to fulfill the great commission and to share the good news of Jesus to people who needed to experience the love of Jesus and know that God will forgive them of their sins.  He served as the Pastor of DeMossville Church in DeMossville, Kentucky.  He then served Valley Baptist Church in Marietta, Ohio.  He was the student chaplain at Columbus State Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Charles was a chaplain for the Fairfield Youth for Boys in Lancaster, Ohio, and the Mohican Youth Camp for delinquent boys in Loudonville, Ohio.  In 1980, God called Charles to Lake County, Florida, to Lake County Correctional Institute.  In the latter part of his ministry, Charles returned to Chillicothe, Ohio, were he was chaplain  of the Chillicothe Correctional Institution and retired in 1992 from the State of Ohio.

In 1983, Libby was called home to be with the Lord after suffering with cancer.

In 1984, Charles met Linda Borglund. They married and God blessed their marriage with 37 years.

Charles was a resident of Lake Wales, Florida, and temporarily lived in Andalusia, Alabama.  He loved working around his house.  He was an accomplished carpenter and built his own home.  He loved airplanes and loved going to airshows, where he admired all the beautiful planes.  He loved the Lord, his family, and his friends.  His greatest joy was spending time with his loving wife, Linda (who spoiled him rotten) and his children, and he especially loved all of his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Elizabeth Casey Edgington;  his parents, Carl and Clara Edgington; his brother, Vernon Vance Edgington; and grandson, Samuel Joel Rhoden.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Edgington; children Ken and Carolyn Edgington, Keith and Sonja Edgington, and Luke and Karen Edgington-Philpott; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Virginia  (Eldon R.) Aupperle of Toulon, Illinois; and brother, David (Barbara) Edgington of Frankfort, Ohio.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, and he will be interred at Concord Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Ohio.
