Charles G. Rife, a devoted husband, father, and decorated United States Air Force veteran, passed away on December 7, 2025, in Crestview, Florida, at the age of 91.
Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, on November 28, 1934, to Casey and Elizabeth Rife, Charles dedicated his life to service and family. In 1953, he began a distinguished 30-year career in the USAF, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1983. His courageous service earned him numerous honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), the Vietnam Service Medal with one device, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After his military career, Charles continued to share his expertise as a Maintenance Advisor for McDonnell Douglas, working with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was a man of many interests, with a passion for scuba diving and deer hunting.
Above all, Charles was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Norma Sue Rife (formerly Springer), and their five children: Rick (Michele) Rife, Craig (Tracy) Rife, Mark (Lisa) Rife, Marcia (Kevin) Massengill, and Diana Potter. He was a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Miller.
Charles will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, his commitment to his country, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, strength, and cherished memories.
