Minister Chauncy Bernard Gamble, was born on May 31, 1960, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Thomas Melvin Gamble and Loretta Mae Gamble. He was the fourth child of six children. He accepted the free gift of salvation at an early age while attending Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, Pontiac, MI, under the pastorate of Bishop C. J. Johnson. Chauncy married Theressa Vassell on December 5, 2008. Their union was blessed with a son, Chauncy Bernard Gamble, Jr. (CJ). Chauncy lived with his family in northwest Florida, up to the day he passed. They enjoyed a loving household.
Education
Chauncy attended Pontiac Central and Northern High Schools from 1975 to 1979. He obtained his High School diploma in 1979. He attended William Cary College from 1995 to 2000. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, in 1998. In addition, he obtained a second bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2000. He was an elementary school substitute teacher.
Military and Civil Servant Careers
Lance Corporal Chauncy Gamble joined the US Army in 1981; he was honorably discharged in 1984. He then joined the US Marine Corps in 1985; he was honorably discharged in 1987. As a result of his military-related injuries, he was subsequently medically discharged from the military.
Chauncy worked as a civil servant at the Eglin Air Force Base (Florida) from 2003-2005. In spite of the injuries, he had from serving in the military, he stated that he would not hesitate to serve his country again.
Ministries and Hobbies
Chauncy was a member of The House of Praise Church of God in Christ in Crestview, Florida; where he served under the leadership of Pastor Sammie Radford, Jr. as an Associate Minister. His life reflected servanthood wherever he went. He immensely enjoyed conducting music and Sunday school or sermonic ministries at his local church and getting items for the community’s food bank. He also enjoyed sharing the gospel nationally in other states, and internationally, such as in Jamaica. He enjoyed traveling to places of interest with his family and relatives. He loved family reunions, keeping up with and catching up with loved ones. He had such patience to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on. He loved to affirm and encourage others. He liked to go fishing by himself, or with his family. He also liked photography, gardening, handyman projects around the house, and helping the neighbors.
Blessing to Others
Chauncy fervently and passionately loved his Lord Jesus Christ. He demonstrated that love by being a loving and devoted husband and father. He was faithful to his family, his church, and to his friends. He was a patriotic defender of his country; and a great neighbor who would go out of his way to help his neighbors. He helped to feed those who needed to be fed, he shared the gospel around the world. He helped further the practical cause of organizations, such as Saint Jude’s Children's Hospital and Doctors Without Borders. He was God’s hands, feet, and mouthpiece. He walked, talked, and lived to please the Lord. He was at peace with God, and with man.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Theressa; and his miracle son, Chauncy, Jr.; both of Baker, FL; two sisters, Jacqueline (William) Miller and Luwana (James) Dodson; one brother, Bryan (Theresa) Gamble; his Step-Mother, Barbara Gamble; all of whom are residents of Pontiac, MI; three Step-Sisters, Malkia Newman and Ruth Wright of Pontiac, MI and Rodji Walton of Jonesboro, GA; one Step-Brother, Russell (Terry) Hoover; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents; Thomas and Loretta Gamble; two brothers, Thomas Gamble, Jr. and Shawn Gamble; and one Stepbrother, Ronald Hoover.
