Christopher Clayton McClellan, Jr Obituary

Christopher “CJ” McClellan Jr., a devoted father, loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and cherished friend, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on July 3, 2026, at the age of 32. Born on February 8, 1994, in the sunny town of Pensacola, Florida, Christopher's life, although short, was filled with love, generosity, and a spirit of adventure.

The beloved son of Christopher McClellan Sr. and Tracey Goble, Christopher was a beacon of joy and warmth to everyone he met. His parents, along with his sister Heather Marie Foret, and (paternal) Mammaw Sandy Boyd (Pawpaw Steve Boyd), (uncles) William Gilley Jr, Carl McClellan Sr and Jason Williams, and many cousins survive him, and will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Christopher was also the proud father of a wonderful son, Christopher Caiden McClellan, his Daddy’s “mini me”, who was the light of his life, and his greatest source of pride.

Christopher's life was a testament to the love and joy he spread to those around him. He is preceded in death by several treasured family members, including his (maternal) Memaw Leslie Gilley and grandfather William Goble, (paternal) Great Papaw Carl McClellan, (paternal) Grand Papaw Clete McClellan, (paternal) aunt Chandelle McClellan, all of whom he held close in his heart.

As the owner of McClellan’s Tree Service, Christopher was known for his hard work and incredible skill. A jack of all trades, he was an exceptional mechanic and handyman, always ready to tackle any challenge with a smile. His dedication and craftsmanship earned him the respect and admiration of his community.

Outside of work, Christopher's passions were as many as they were varied. He was happiest outdoors, whether riding dirt bikes, four-wheelers, or go-karts. He had a particular fondness for "mudding," which brought out his adventurous spirit. Yet, it was by the water, with a fishing pole in hand, where he found his ultimate happiness. From dawn until dusk, Christopher could often be found at the river, lake, or pond, fishing and finding peace in nature's embrace.

Christopher had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His pure spirit and selfless nature touched countless lives, and to know him was truly a blessing. He lived each day to the fullest, never shying away from an opportunity to bring joy to those around him. Even on his toughest days, Christopher went out of his way to make others smile, embodying a rare and beautiful kindness.

His tragic passing due to a go-kart accident has left a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him. Christopher's legacy of love, generosity, and joy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.

As we say goodbye to Christopher (“CJ”), let us remember his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering love for life. He will be greatly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4-6pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A Candlelight Vigil at Twin Hills Park will be held to celebrate Christopher’s life, at a later date.
