Cora Lee King

Cora Lee King, 95, passed away on 27 February, 2021. She was born on 18 August, 1925 to Trammel and Nell Kilpatrick.

Cora, always a devoted military wife and mother, was a private seamstress, worked years at the sewing factory, and retired as a telephone operator for Southern Bell after years overseas in Panama and Germany. A devoted Christian at Southside, now Central, Baptist Church in Crestview, Florida, Cora was also a volunteer into her 80s at North Okaloosa County Hospital. Well known for her enduring strength, energetic sense of humor, and unbelievable memory, Cora continued until her last days amazing family with recollections from her youth and rebounding from age-related health issues.

Cora first married Norman K. Cobb, Sr. and their family grew with children Lavonia Ann who past in 2009, Margaret Elaine (Ed), N. K. “Kenny” Jr. (Darlene), and Kerry Lee (Nancy). Cora later married Thay Gean King and the family was completed with Geana Lynn (Bobby).

Cora Lee is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Exa, both husbands, daughter Ann, and by three brothers, Richard (Edna), John Trammel (Margaret), and Charles (Frances).

Left to cherish her memory are five children, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren: Ann’s children are Joe Paul Davis, Jr. and Pam (Ken) Fincher who have a total six children and six grandchildren. Elaine’s children are Mark Ruzic and Steven (Wendy) Ruzic who has two children. Kenny’s children are Kelly (David) Folden, Megan (Luciano) Cobb, Chance (Clint) Campbell, and Dylan Cobb who have a total four children. Kerry’s children are Dalton (Erin) Cobb and Jamie Cobb. Geana’s children are Justin (Kristan) Sowell and Ashley (Jeffrey) Odom and they have a total of seven children.

Viewing is open to the public on Friday March 5, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home on James Lee BLVD in Crestview, Florida. Service begins at 2:00 PM on Friday March 5, 2021 and burial is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Fairchild RD.

Reverend Donnie Cadenhead will be speaking.

Pallbearers are Joe Davis, Mark Ruzic, Steve Ruzic, Dalton Cobb, Justin Sowell, Dylan Cobb.

Honorary Pallbearers were Jeffrey Odom, Trenton Odom, Jeremy Hart, Glenn Bryant.
