David Lynn Fletcher, Jr. was born on March 30, 1967, in Tampa, Florida. He passed away on February 10, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was only 56 years old.
He graduated from Baker High School in 1985, a member of the 1983 and 1984 state championship football teams, earning First team All-State recognition.
David relocated to Tampa with his family upon finishing high school. He pursued his higher education at the University of South Florida College of Fine Arts and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. Upon graduation, he returned to Baker and started working in the IT department at Sandestin Beach Resort, where he spent over 18 years of his career. David was most recently employed as an IT Manager at Anyar, Inc in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
David will forever be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and helpfulness to others. He loved his friends and family deeply.
David is predeceased by his stepfather, Jack D. Stokes, Jr. and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Louise Stokes, his father, David Fletcher, Sr., his other mother (stepmother), Martha Fletcher, his sister, Teresa L. Stokes, of Tampa, FL and brothers, John C. Stokes, of Crestview, FL, Matthew Fletcher and Tye Fletcher (Astrid) of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his uncles, Lew Cornelius (Shirley) of Columbus, MS, Teddy Cornelius (Ila) of Thomasville, AL, Scott Hall of St. Marys, WV, Jon Hall of Murrell's Inlet, SC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In his memory, monetary donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home located in Crestview, Florida. The service will begin at 11 a.m. and the family will be receiving visitors starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Baker, Florida.
