Debra Olsen Obituary

Tribute & Message from the Family

Debra L. Olsen, age 50, residing in Crestview, FL, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2020. She was born to Travis R. and Shannon L. Williams on June 23, 1970 in Garland, Texas.

Debra was raised in and spent most of her life in Texas. She attended school in Round Rock, Texas, where in addition to being recognized by the honor societies for her scholastic achievements, she was involved in a variety of activities, in particular as a member of the school dance team, The Round Rock Dragonettes. As an adult, Deb had a special talent for art, most notably decorating. She loved to organize and display items of beauty, while applying her fine eye for detail and color, especially in her home. This was personified in the presentation of her collection of Seraphim Angels and other representations of her strong Christian faith.

Debra was not a social butterfly or an active socializer, but she loved being “Queen of Her Castle”, regardless of which state was the lucky home of that Castle. She cherished sharing this with her loving husband, Garrett, and her wonderful chain of furry, canine friends – Grant, Kelsey, Asher, and many more, including her most recent little companion, Jasmine. You were lucky indeed to be one of Deb’s and Garrett’s 4-legged “children”.

Debra will always be remembered for her kind heart and her ability to notice the subtle needs of others. On many occasions the recipient of one of her acts of kindness would not even understand how she could have noticed their need. Loved ones were often surprised how she had observed some slight interest or desire of theirs, and then quietly provided the means for its satisfaction.

She was also blessed with an unforgettable SMILE, which simply lit-up any room she occupied. Friends and family alike could not help but feel their spirits be lifted when she greeted them with her always-sincere, heartfelt smile.

Debra was a kind and caring person, always sensitive to the needs of others despite constant pain, medical procedures, and surgeries that plagued her during her last 3 decades on this Earth. These ongoing challenges and the impact of substantial palliative medications were a constant challenge and balancing act for Deb and Garrett. To a significant extent, their lives revolved around her current health status and the effectiveness of the treatments and medications being pursued at the time. Dealing with her constant pain and an ongoing series of surgical and other hospital stays, was just part of their routine. Their love for each other made for a successful life together for over 26 years.

Debra was a loving wife to her devoted husband of 26 years, Garrett, and a cherished daughter to her parents, Travis R. & Shannon L. Williams. She is also survived by her brother, Travis D. Williams and wife, Holly; her niece, Tessa N. Williams; her nephew, Travis “Evan” Williams and wife, Lauren; her uncles, David M. Williams and Mark E. Williams and wife, Mary; her cousins, Aaron M. Williams and Matthew S. Williams, and of course, her furry companion, Jasmine.
