It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, Donald Dale Guy. He passed away on April 30, 2020 in the care of covenant hospice in Pensacola Florida after a long battle with multiple illnesses. He left us the same way he tackled every problem ever faced; fighting until his time was up. There was no one he wouldn’t talk to and befriend. He was gregarious in nature and his laughter and ornery demeanor will be missed by all who knew him.
My father passed on with his wife, Darlene, and I by his side. Don was born March 14, 1952 in Steubenville, Ohio as the first of five children to Floyd F. Guy and Kathleen “Kay” Midcap. After reaching adulthood he joined the United States Air Force and traveled the World before landing in Crestview, Florida in 1984.
Dad said once he moved to the Gulf Coast, he knew there was nowhere else he would rather live. After 22 years of service he decided to retire and make Crestview our home. He loved to fish, hunt, raise Brittany Spaniels, and tell funny stories while enjoying a Jim Beam & Coke. He loved many things and many people, but his grandchildren always brought a smile to his face and put a twinkle in his eyes.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Darcel Guy. He is survived by his wife Darlene, his daughter Maureena Guy Lysaght (John), and her children, Alexander Bonilla, Zoie Bonilla, and Hannah Lysaght, his brothers, David Guy Sr. (Toni) and Dean Guy, his sister Darla Guy (Victor), his Nephew David Guy Jr. (Ashley) and Niece Rachel Guy Mayle (Kyle), Christopher Edleson (Megan), Trevor Taulman (Heidi), and his great niece Maddilyn Guy, Darlene’s children; D’arcie Lennard Chessher (John), Jaclyn Lennard Chessher Brown (Chris/ Booger), Nick Lennard (Brittany), and their Children; Aubriana Chessher, Christabel Chessher, Matthew Chessher, Addison Lennard, Sidney Lennard and Hance Lennard and many more cousins and friends.
Plans for a wake will be made and shared at a later date. Please pray for our family as we struggle with this loss.
