Doris Bolden Obituary

Doris Bolden, age 89, passed away on Friday June 5, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 26, 1930 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Herman and Alice Rogers. Doris met the love of her life when she was 8 years old, Raymond Bolden. She was a member of Crestview Church of God. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, cross word puzzles, board games, cards, playing bingo, and baking and cooking for her family. Doris loved to shop and was a bargain hunter and enjoyed going to flee markets. She was a seamstress and a master of her craft. Doris loved the Lord and loved people. She was highly active in her church teaching Sunday school to the little children aged 5 and younger in her home church, Sharon Baptist Church, in New Jersey.

Doris is survived by her husband of 69 years, Raymond Bolden; son, Raymond Bolden, Jr. and wife Christine; son, Douglas Bolden and wife Elaine; daughter, Jo Ann Marsh and husband Michael; son, Bruce Bolden and wife Oneida; sisters, Janet Rogers and Sonja Rogers; grandchildren, Dawnelle, Erick, China, Donovan, Tahlia, Zachary, Jason, Michele, Eva, Natasia, and Bruce, Jr.; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A private family service will take place Wednesday, June 10,2020. Doris will be buried in Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Doris’ memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
