Dorothy Hollinhead was called to her heavenly home on October 22. 2024, at 103 years old. She was born on April 28, 1921, to Amos and Etta Garrick in Scyrene, Alabama.
Dorothy was one of four siblings. She had two sisters, Lulu White and Eloise Tucker, and two brothers, Lawrence and James Garrick. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crestview. She was one of the first members to begin Crestview Chapter Eastern Star, where she was later a member for 78 years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and being a homemaker. She married the love of her life, George, on July 9, 1939, in Chipley, Florida, and they celebrated their marriage for 68 years.
Dorothy is survived by her son Micheal Hollinhead(Kay) and daughter Kaye Rigsby(Joe); her five grandchildren Scott Hollinhead (Judy), Mark Hollinhead (Sandra), Martha Turenne(Paul), Audrey Adams(Dusty), and Nathan Rigsby; her great-grandchildren Heather Overstreet(Jason), Haleigh Moore(Vada), Kristen Adams, Chloe Finn, Karis and Kaden Hollinhead; and two great-great-granddaughters Madison Ward and Haddie Moore, along with numerous nieces nephews and extended family.
Her celebration of life will be held at Whitehurst Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2024. Visitation for family and friends will begin at noon, followed by a service at 1:00. Her burial will follow at Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery.
