Dorothy Stockman

Dorothy Stockman age 91 of Crestview passed away on Tuesday November1, 2022 at her home. She was born in Evergreen, AL on September 19, 1931, to Herbert Lee and Stella Mae Lynch. After moving to Crestview with her husband in 1953, Dorothy worked for Alatex for many years. Later, she began working in the lunchroom with the Okaloosa County School System. She loved gardening and sewing. Dorothy loved reading her Bible and singing old hymns. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crestview. Dorothy enjoyed learning about history from understanding religious history to watching documentaries about inventors, explorers, and many of our country’s founders and leaders. After retiring her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and working in her yard with her many flowers and vegetables. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Clifford Stockman; brothers Clifford, Leory, Elmer, Albert, Rufus and Robert Lynch; sisters: Mae Lynch Kelly and Ruby Lynch Wiggins.

          Dorothy is survived by her children: Clifford Lamar Stockman (Mark Ramirez), Betty Louise Stockman, Linda Kaye Stockman Dukes (Carlton Fate Dukes); brother Johnny Lynch (June Lynch); sister Gracie Lynch Brown; grandchildren: Lindsay Ryanne Copeland (Sophie Copeland), Matthew David Copeland; Kyle Junior Dukes; Haley Nicole Dukes; Kevin Fate Dukes.

          A time of visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday November 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Lewis officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Bushfield Cemetery in McKenzie, Alabama.
