Earnest Mack Carroll

Earnest Carroll, age 89, passed away October 13, 2020 at his home. He was born on January 10, 1931 in Andalusia, AL to Laura and Clyde Carroll. Earnest was a retired ironworker. He was a member of the Masons. He served in the United States Marine Corp and received the Bronze Star for his combat in the Korean War. Earnest was the P.M. of the Concord Lodge, Scottish Rite 32nd, and the P.P. of the Eastern Star. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Local 44 Ironworkers of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary Carroll; sister-in-law, Pat Carroll; brothers, Clyde Carroll, Jerry Carroll, and Charles Carroll; and grandson, Richard Carroll.

Earnest is survived by his wife of 29 years, Thora Carroll of Crestview; sons, Larry Carroll and wife Edie of Milford, Ohio and Rodney McGovern and wife Christy of Crestview, FL; daughter, Marsha Lynn Paust and husband Bill of Cincinatti, Ohio; brother, Raleigh Carroll of Lake City, FL; sister, Mary Helen Etheridge of Crestview, FL; sister-in-laws, Kathy Carroll of Baker, FL and Louise Carroll of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Barret Paust, Brandon Paust, Cody McGovern, Ryan McGovern, Brian McGovern, and Amberlynn McGovern; 12 great- grandchildren (one born the day before Earnest passed); and great great-grandchild, Grant White.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 11:00AM – 12:00PM at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A service will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00PM all at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Reverend Doctor Donnie Cadenhead officiating. Burial will follow at Svea Cemetery.
