Charlene “Memaw” Taylor

          Charlene Taylor known to her kids as Memaw, passed away on Monday December 5, 2022. She was born in Andalusia, AL on November 12, 1939, to William and Lucille Warthen. Memaw moved to Crestview in 1976 and had her own day care for many years. She loved to read and loved eagles. She was preceded in death by her husband James Taylor, daughter Rhonda Brown, infant son James Lee Taylor, Jr and her parents.

          Memaw is survived by her children Wayne Taylor and his wife Bonnie and Belinda Taylor; brother Jimmy Warthen and son in law Harold Brown; her grandchildren Stacy Drake, Jennifer Taylor and T.J Taylor and his wife Jamie; 8 great grandchildren also survive along with numerous nieces, nephews and the many children she took care of over the years.

          The celebration of Memaw’s life will be held on Monday December 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that any of her “kids” that she took care of over the years to please bring a picture of them and place on a memory board for the family.
