Emma Jean Alford age 90 of Laurel Hill passed away on Sunday September 18, 2022. She was born in Laurel Hill, FL on March 21, 1932, to Nebu and Della Mae Gavin. Emma Jean has been a lifelong resident of the Laurel Hill area. She worked for the Okaloosa County School System as a bus driver and was a member of the Eastern Star. Emma Jean was a cook at Blue Water Bay for several years and she loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Alford, Jr.; 3 sons; granddaughter, Heather Nichole Ellis; great granddaughter Casey Olivia-Dyan Siegel; two sisters, Margaret Newton and Birdie Richardson; and sons-in-law, Ronnie Money, and Gary Browning.
Survivors include her children: H. R. Alford, Sr., and his wife Edith; Clydie Browning, Delores Money, and Helen Pagnini and her husband Rob; her sister, Faye Logan; also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several great great great grandchildren.
A time of visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2022, at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. The funeral service for Emma Jean will be on Wednesday September 28, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Svea Cemetery in Laurel Hill.
