Obituary

CRESTVIEW - Eva Lee Atkinson Fountain, passed
away at home in Crestview on August 09, 2023. She
was born on April 1, 1936, in Dothan, Alabama to
her late parents, Rev. William Brunson Atkinson,
and Grace Day Atkinson. She was predeceased by
her step-mother, Grace N. Atkinson, brother Rev.
W.B. (Jack) Atkinson Jr., sister Alesha (Billy Maye)
Rainey and her beloved husband of 50 years, Dr.

Eva grew up in Methodist parsonages across
south Alabama & northwest Florida, but she is most
deeply connected to her Crestview community
of over 60 years. She graduated from Mobile High School and completed
education as a graduate of Huntingdon College in 1957.
Eva highly valued education with the opportunities and experiences it
provides. She had been a member of the Methodist church since age 10,
and a member of First Methodist Church Crestview since 1953 where she
worshipped, actively served and found great joy.
Eva was an energetic, fun-loving, positive, southern lady who cherished her
Lord Jesus, her extended family, her church, and Huntington and hometown
friends. She was a charter member of the Dogwood Garden Club since 1964.
Eva was a homemaker extraordinaire, dedicating herself to creating a welcoming,
loving and healthy home for her family. She was a Cub Scout Den
Mother for 5 years, actively involved in shaping the lives of young boys in her
community. She was a volunteer in Bob Sikes Elementary Reading programs
& Kindergarten assistant for 18 years. Eva enjoyed custom embroidery, dress
smocking, reading, water skiing, swimming, and boating. She took pride
in community and home landscaping that brought glory to God and her
neighborhood. She was well known as a faithful sender of special greeting
cards, each one thoughtfully hand-picked for cherished ones.
Eva is survived by her siblings, Grace Manon Harris, and Donnie Ross; her
brother-in-law Jack Rainey, and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Atkinson. She
is survived by her three sons, Jonathan (Beulah) Fountain, David (Cindy)
Fountain, and Aubrey (Denise) Fountain, as well as seven grandchildren,
Michelle Thompson, Stephanie (Clay) Richardson, Chase (Kristen) Fountain,
Shae (Justin) Mitchell, Valerie Watson, Frank (Stefanie) Watson, Grace
Fountain, along with eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces
