Evelyn “Ivonne” Bowers passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus April 16, 2022. She is survived by two sisters, Mary (Dwight) Hagler and Betty (Eldon) Wallace, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, of whom each was her favorite when she was with him/her. “Mamaw” is also survived by a step-daughter Glenda Braswell, and two grandsons, Michael and Jonathan, and their families.
She is also survived by precious friends, too many to name.
Ivonne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Gene Bowers, her son, Jerry Wayne Davis; parents Rev. Willie and Chloe Hillhouse and brothers and sisters including Fray (Arlene) Hillhouse, Ray (Jean) Hillhouse, Marie (Glesco) Sallee, Rev. Etsel (Wilma) Hillhouse, Alford Hillhouse and infant twins.
She was a godly prayerful woman, kind and thoughtful, witty and fun, and famous for her fried pies and chocolate gravy. These last few months she moved to Florida for rehab and then to her grandson’s home. They made lots of plans, to sightsee, and visit relatives across the country, but it was not meant to be. Although we mourn for ourselves and all those that loved her, we rejoice for her. Not only have her eyes beheld streets of gold and walls of jasper, but she has also reunited with loved ones and seen Jesus face-to-face.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.”
A Graveside service on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 11:00am at Pontiac Cemetery in Pontiac Missouri.
