Francis Joseph Hendricks

Francis Joseph Hendricks, formerly of Sterling, Virginia, passed away at his home in Crestview, Florida, on June 8,2021. He was 91 years of age. He was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania to his now late parents, Joseph Hendricks and Kathryn Zukas. He was predeceased by his siblings, William, Robert, and Ruth.

Francis married his first wife, Betty Jane Holman in 1952 and together had two sons. He served in the United States Army for 20 years and fought with distinction and valor in the Korean War. Upon retiring from the Army, he worked for the US Postal Service as a supervisor in Merrifield, VA. Francis and Betty moved to Crestview, Florida in the mid 1980’s where they both retired.

Francis was predeceased by his wife, Betty J. Hendricks, and their son, Henry J. Hendricks. He is survived by his second wife, Tamako Higa Hendricks; son, Gene A. Hendricks (wife Linda), stepdaughter, Melanie Carey (husband Jim), granddaughter, Cassandra Hendricks Courtney (husband Russell), granddaughter, Heather Teachey Martin (husband Eric), great-granddaughters, Danielle and Vanessa Courtney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 with a Military service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Silvercrest Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, FL or to Covenant Hospice, 220 Eglin Pkwy NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.
