Gail Cutlip, age 88, of Baker, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2020. Gail was born in Spice, West Virginia to Neva Mae and was raised by his grandparents, Dock and Lillian Cutlip. He served in the United States Army and was proud of his military service during the Korean war. Gail built and founded Grace Baptist Church in Marlinton, West Virginia and was a pastor there for several years. For the last 8 years, he attended and was a founding member of Victory Baptist Church in Crestview. Gail loved playing and listening to mountain music. He played the guitar, banjo, and mandolin for his family. He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents; brothers, Jerry and Douglas Cutlip; sister, Brenda Rhoer; and his first wife, Dreama Cutlip.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Cutlip of Baker, Florida; sons, Dock (Jennifer) Cutlip of Vienna, West Virginia, David Cutlip of Blythewood, South Carolina, Duane (Angie) Cutlip of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepchildren ,Wade (Cheryl) Price of Laurel Hill, Florida, Ronda (Ron) Moore of Baker, Florida, Patty Bryant of Baker, Florida, and Sherry (William) Griffith of Baker, Florida; brother, Charles Cutlip of Maryland; sisters, Judy Baker of West Virginia, June Sura of Virginia, Linda Dean of Maryland, and Sharon Campbell of North Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; and 20 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gail will be held on Tuesday January 28th, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held the same day beginning at 3:00 p.m. Visitation and services will also be held in West Virginia on January 31st and February 1st. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in West Virginia.
The family would like to thank Baker Volunteer Fire Department for their efforts for Mr. Cutlip. They request that in lieu of flowers, since there will be no local burial, that donations be made to Baker Fire Department, 1375 19th St, Baker, FL 32531.
