George Converce Ankelein, Jr., age 65, born February 8, 1958 in Englewood, New Jersey passed peacefully on September 16, 2023 surrounded by his family. Son of the late George Converce Ankelein, Sr., and Lillian Marie Collins Ankelein.
He lived in Bogota and Newton, New Jersey, graduated from Sussex County Vocational-Technical High School for diesel mechanics, class of 1977. He lived and worked in various areas of New Jersey and settled at Redman Press where he worked for 30 plus years. In 2010 he moved to Crestview, Florida, for health reasons and to help his parents. George loved photography, historical biographies and helping others. He became involved in the Crestview Presbyterian Church and sang in their choir. Also, close to his heart were his friends at the local Waffle House. No matter what challenges George faced, he always had a big smile for anyone and everyone who crossed his path. We will all miss his big heart and contagious laugh.
George is survived by his sisters, Susan Perry (George) from Weston, Florida, Deborah Ankelein, from Hardwick Township, New Jersey, Sandra Kieffer (Dave) from Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania; brothers, Eric Ankelein (Francis) from Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Scott Ankelein (Anna-Lina) from Crestview, Florida and Peter Ankelein (Arlene) from Queens, New York; nieces, Rebecca Hodges (Matt), Meghan Gavagni (Brett), Kimberly Wagner (Sam), , Chloe Brookshire, Allyssa Ankelein, and Emma Ankelein; Nephew, Miles Ankelein; Great-Nephews, West Hodges and Elliott Gavagni.
