Gerald "Jerry" Acton Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) D. Acton, age 90, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Crestview Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, Florida. He was born January 27, 1931 in Hunter, Arkansas to Elbert and Audrey High Acton. He retired from Gulf States Paper Corporation in Demopolis, Alabama after almost 40 years as a foreman. He then worked for the City of Demopolis Recreation Department for 15 years, leaving that work at 80 years of age. Jerry moved to Crestview, Florida to be near his daughter and her family in 2012.

He is survived by Rebecca Grable Acton, his wife of 60 years; a son, Donald K. Acton (Alison); a daughter, Amy Acton Gillis (Tim); grandchildren, Matthew Gillis, John Gillis, Samuel Acton, and Natalie Acton; brothers, Paul and Robert Acton; sisters, Mary Nettles and Linda Acton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
