Lewis Glen Barberree, 88, of Crestview, Florida, passed away on March 29, 2026, at North Okaloosa Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Glen was born on March 19, 1938, in Baker, Florida. He graduated from Crestview High School in 1957 and went on to live a life marked by service, integrity, and deep faith.
Glen devoted nearly three decades to a distinguished career in law enforcement. He began as a game warden before serving as a deputy sheriff and later as a detective with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. In 1989, he graduated from the FBI National Academy, a significant professional achievement that reflected his dedication and excellence in the field. That same year, he was honored as Outstanding Law Officer and Police Officer of the Year and received the Sheriff’s Office Safety Appreciation Award. Glen also served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police from 1991 to 1992. He retired in 2000 after 29 years of faithful service to his community.
Outside of his career, Glen had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After retirement, he pursued his passion for fishing as a co-angler with B.A.S.S. Masters. He also dedicated time to mission trips through his church, always eager to help those in need. Above all, Glen was a man of strong Christian faith who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared that love with everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bettie and Esker Barberree, his sister, Jo Davenport, and his beloved dog, Brady.
Glen is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Barberree; his four children, Lewis Barberree and his wife, Tracy, Andrew Jackson and his wife, Kristen, and Kristie McDonald and her husband, Michael; his nine beloved grandchildren: Billy Boutwell and his wife, Ayesha, Brittany Boutwell, Bryna Sudul, Annabelle Sellers and her husband, John, James McDonald, Addison Jackson, Oliver Jackson, and Campbell Jackson; and three great grand children: Tristen, Gideon, and Isabella; his beloved poodle, Bentley; and a beautiful myriad of friends. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in each of them.
A life so richly lived leaves a lasting legacy of love, service, and faith. Glen will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will hold services on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Lifepoint Church, 400 S. Ferdon Blvd, Crestview, FL 32539. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM.
