It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen McGowan on August the 8th, 2025, in the care of Silvercrest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, Florida. Glen, known to many friends and coworkers as “Pee Wee” and as “Little Papa” by his family, was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris (Taylor) McGowan, his parents William and Lily McGowan, his sisters Beaulah Mae Bond and Mary Walker, brothers W. A. “Doc” McGowan and Howard McGowan and great-grandson, Stephen King.
Glen loved fishing and quail hunting, taking great pride in his prized bird dogs, Little Kate and Speck. He was fun-loving and lively, always singing and ready to beat you at a game of dominoes or checkers. He was the delight of the grandchildren, “stealing” noses and bringing home little treasures in his pockets or getting the marble out of an empty can of spray paint for you.
Glen is survived by his only daughter, Glenda McGowan Tyner (Charles “Pete” Tyner), three grandchildren, Jon Tyner (Amanda Leach Tyner), Jennifer Tyner Reed, and Julie Tyner, four great-grandchildren, Tristan Forbes, Raven Reed Rudzki, Amber Tyner and Lua Estey, as well as four great-great-grandchildren, Landon King, David “Dok” King, Bernadette “Bek” King and Charlie King.
A life-long resident of Laurel Hill, Florida, Glen’s final resting place will be in Almarante Cemetery in his family plot. Just short of 99 years old, his birthday would have been on September 14th, Glen lived a long, fruitful life, always working diligently and creating a loving home for his family. We will forever be missing his presence in our lives.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
