Ila Campbell

Ila Campbell passed away on August 11, 2018, in Crestview, Florida. She was born on November 18, 1926 in Crestview, Florida, where she lived most of her life. Crestview was truly her hometown. Ila was preceded in death by her parents, Sheriff H. Isle Enzor and Florence Collins Enzor, her 2 sons Ferrin Campbell, Jr. and William Enzor Campbell, and her double first cousin Dr. Al Enzor.  Ila graduated from Crestview High School in 1943 and attended Florida State College for Women which is now FSU.  She also attended the University of Florida.  Her last job before retirement was secretary to the director of nursing in the administration at North Okaloosa Medical Center.  Ila was Queen of Los Caballeros in the early 60’s.  Her favorite hymn was Peace in the Valley, and her favorite hobbies were reading and working crossword puzzles.  Ila loved to keep up with the weather on the weather channel.

            Survivors include her grandson Ferrin C. Campbell, III and his wife Mandy, who both have dutifully and lovingly picked up the torch since the death of his father.  Also surviving are her beloved great grandsons: Ferrin Colin Campbell, IV and Ayden Wayne Campbell; daughter in law Mildred Campbell and her son Danny and Kristine Gaskin; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Jerry Parker; nephew, J. Parker; niece, Pam Myers and husband Bill, Sadie Lee; cousins, Dr. Sara Rushing and husband Mike; Celestine Folga and husband Dick, Dr. Mary Foscue and husband Hank, along with many other cherished relatives and friends.  The family would like to thank the professional and dedicated staff of Crestview Rehabilitation Center as they attended to Ila’s needs during her final weeks.  We have special gratitude for staff member and long-time friend Angela Whitehurst Freeman for her kindness.

            The celebration of Ila’s life will be on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.  A time of visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m.
