James Carnes, CMsgt, USAF (Retired), age 75 of Crestview passed away on Sunday March 22, 2020 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. James was born in Kittanning, PA on November 27, 1944 to Paul and Rose (Kozicki) Carnes. James grew up in the Pennsylvania area and went on to proudly serve his country in the United State Air Force for 30 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work with the state of Florida and retired after 15 years with the State. James was Catholic by faith. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. James loved to pull for his Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburg Penguins. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Rose (Kozicki) Carnes; his daughter Tammy J. Williams; sister Victoria (Carnes) Olinger and brother Ed Carnes and good friend Billy Joe Boozer.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Jo Ann Carnes; his children: Melicia Rose and husband Jamey; James Carnes, Jr and wife Michelle; Kimberly Hood and husband Red; and James Paul Carnes. Sister Jean Carnes also survives. James also had 15 grandchildren: Brittany & Brook Carnes, Casey (Jeremy) Scott, Faith Rose, Brock Howard, Dustin Rose, Destin Rose, Zackary Ponder, Thomas Carr, Eddie LeDuc, Shellie Hood, Austin Carnes, Jayden Carnes, Chasen Carnes, and Juliet Williams; and 5 great grandchildren: Audree, Layla, Kyler, Mayson, and Hadley, who he dealer loved. Also surviving are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Joyce Gray; Nieces: Lisa (Olinger) Fox, Marcia (Olinger) Boyer and cousin: Coni King and long time friend Larry (Becky) Comer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
