James Patrick Daffron, 81, of Crestview, FL, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at his home. Pat was born at home on August 22, 1939 in Chattanooga, TN to Lawrence and Willa Dean Daffron. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1959.
On August 19, 1960, he married Wenzola Edmundson at Lake Eola in Orlando, FL. Rooted in Chattanooga, TN, they traveled with the United States Air Force till 1976. They shared 3 children, William Patrick (Rick) Daffron, David Dwayne Daffron, and Cynthia (Cindy) Michelle McCubbins. Of note, at one point in his career he served as a passenger specialist on Air Force One where he met Dr. Martin Luther King JR, Niel Armstrong, President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
On June 26, 1977, he married Kim Yun Cha, in Ft Oglethorpe, GA. Stationed at Eglin AFB, they settled in Crestview, FL where he retired after 31 years of military service. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, had his own computer sales company, was the facilities manager at First Baptist Church of Crestview, and served as a substitute teacher in the Okaloosa County School District. They shared 2 children, Donna Diane Chessher and Terrell (Terry) Patrick Daffron.
Pat loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a dedicated church member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Crestview. He always liked to make others laugh and enjoyed the company of all friends and family. He was never at a loss for words.
He is survived by his wife Yun Cha; children, Rick (Delona) Daffron of Rome, Ga; David (Susan) Daffron of Teloga, GA; Cindy (Donnie) McCubbins of Shepherdsville, KY; Donna (Shannon) Chesser of Crestview, FL; Terry (Emily) Daffron of Winter Garden, FL; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brother Terrell (Terry) Dean Daffron; sister Donna Faye Day; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and the memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Crestview, FL with Pastor Francis Picker officiating and Pastor Stan Lewis assisting.
