Janice G. (Getz) Parker

On Saturday, December 17th, Janice G Parker, beloved wife and mother, passed away. She was 76 years old, born to Leo and Georgia Getz in Muncie Indiana. Janice moved to Ft Walton Beach FL after the ninth grade where she attended Choctawhatchee High School. She married the love of her life, Frank Parker on December 21, 1968. They were together for over 50 years. Janice had many hobbies and interests, and was active in local crafting clubs. She returned to work as her children got older and worked at both Okaloosa and Santa Rosa County Correctional Institutions for over 16 years, retiring in 2011. In her retirement, she continued many of her hobbies and interests, making many friends in the local yard sale circuit. Janice was an amazing woman that could accomplish anything she set her mind to. She was persistent, resourceful and creative. She was strong, battling Parkinson’s Disease and other illness’ later in life. Janice is preceded in death by her Father and Mother Leo and Georgia Getz, her Brother Ronald Getz. She is survived by her Husband Frank, children Keenan and Lindsay, Grandchildren Kaylen Rainey and Kyle Parker, and Grandson Judson Rainey. A public visitation will take place at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, December 22nd from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
