Jay Kinder

Leonard Jay Kinder – fondly known as Jay by friends and family passed away on January 18, 2023 at the age of 87 in the arms of his three daughters. Born in Indiana he joined the US Air Force and spend many of his years in Miami Florida, Bakersville North Carolina, Crestview Florida, Miramar Beach Florida and lastly Newnan Georgia.

Jay was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Lena V Kinder, His fiancé of 9 years Betty Chambers, and His sister Pat Clifford.

Jay is survived by his three daughters Kathy, Karan and Kelly Kathy’s husband James, Karan’s husband Dave his 7 grandchildren: Chris, Jon, Taira, Michael, Katie, Chell and Lena their spouses Brandy, Olivia & Kevin and his 3 great grandchildren: Jake, Troy & Levi. Jay is also survived by his siblings: Bill, Linda, Peggy, Larry, Chris, Les, Jim and endless nieces and nephews.

A family and friend social gathering in Jay’s honor will take place on Wednesday Jan. 25, 2023 with the funeral services being held at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Crestview Florida on Thursday January 26, 2023 at 11:00am. Jay will receive military recognition and will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Lena at Beda Church Cemetery in Wing, Alabama after the services. A time of visitation with the family will begin at 10;00 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
