Jeremy Faust, loved and admired by his family, friends and those who have watched his recovery story from afar, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at the age of 54.
Following a profoundly debilitating stroke five years ago and multiple subsequent medical incidents and hospitalizations, Jeremy is finally healed.
While his passing was unexpected and has left his family heartbroken at his loss, they are choosing to find joy in knowing that Jeremy is whole. He can speak again without effort, can use his arm again without struggle, and can walk without the need to concentrate on every step. At last, he can run.
Jeremy initially arrived on the scene in 1969— a little California, then Colorado, boy who would travel the United States with his parents, from coast to coast and to the mountain peaks in-between.
As a young man Jeremy would join the US Army, then Air Force, meet a blonde hair & blue-eyed Airman, marry her, become an air traffic controller, move around a bit, become a dad to a cute little girl who looked remarkably like he did when he was little, spend a year away in Korea, come back and move around a bit more. Then he would leave the Air Force to work for the FAA and would become a dad, for the second time, to another little blonde girl who loved her daddy more than anything.
Jeremy would take his little family on adventures too, from coast to coast, exploring God’s creation. Jeremy loved to hike and climb, explore waterfalls and majestic forests, visit battlefields, monuments, historic cities and hidden mining towns. There was also never a shortage of adventures that involved rollercoasters, thrill rides and a castle or two.
Jeremy became the most famous air traffic controller in the world in the year 2000, when he was selected from an audience and had a song sung about him and his ATC skills by the late Robin Williams on the show Whose Line Is It Anyway. Jeremy would meet many celebrities over the years and have many stories to tell. But his most important story was not of modern fame.
In 1996, Jeremy began sharing scriptures from the Bible and his personal testimony with the people he knew from work and at the gym. He’d wear conversation starters in the form of a hat or shirt or bracelet with a scripture or quote that would allow him the opportunity to share Jesus with others who wanted to hear.
He served in his church, helped those in need through the Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief teams, and was back-up support for both his wife and daughters’ ministries, opening his home for whatever need would arise. He walked around with Gospel tracts in his pocket to share when he could. He wanted others to know that the most famous and life changing person he had ever met was Jesus.
Romans 10:9-13 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Jeremy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Berit, his daughters Braya Faust and Teagan Faust-Jenkins and her husband Cody, his father and stepmom, Doug and Belle Faust, his mother Sharon Muzik, and half-siblings Christopher and Amber Muzik.
A memorial service honoring Jeremy’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 824 North Ferdon Blvd., Crestview, FL 32536. A time of visitation with the family will be held 30 minutes prior to the service.
