Chief Master Sergeant Jerry L. Hendershot CMSgt (Ret) of Crestview, FL passed peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on October 19, 2020 at home in Crestview, FL. He retired from the Air Force with 30 years of service in the Aircraft Maintenance Field. He was a member of the Hurlburt Chief's Group. He was an avid gardener and loved dogs and cats. He loved music, he would make music tapes for vacations, rides and parties. He was a reader of anything related to history.
Chief Hendershot was preceded in death by his parents: Wayne R. and Beverly Jeanne (Secrest) Hendershot and his father-in-law: Edward M. Good (U.S. Army, Ret.) He is survived by his devoted wife, Isabelle (nee Good) Hendershot, his sons; Jerry L. Hendershot, Jr. of Tallahassee, Mathew Aaron Hendershot of Crestview, FL, his daughters; Nova Gatewood of Gary, IN, and Lindsey Marie Hendershot of Crestview, FL, his brother; Ron (Julie) Hendershot of Johnson City, TN, sisters; Connie (late Larry) Linback of Monon, IN, Linda (late Robert) Taylor of Tucson, AZ, Karen (late James) Albrecht of Francisville, IN and Carol (Mike) McClendon of Cabot, AR. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Derek, Nick and Olivia and his great-grandchildren; Elaina Reigh, Taylor Elyse, and Harley Rae.
Friends will be received Thursday November 5th, 2020 from 5 to 6 pm at the Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home Chapel 436 W. James Lee Blvd. Crestview, FL where funeral services will be held at 6pm by Pastor Lisa Ausley of Crosspoint South Church officiating. Services will be immediately followed by Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Jerry's name to The Lung Cancer Foundation of America (www.lcfamerica.org) or a charity of your choice.
The family has requested that due to Covid-19 issues that social distancing and facemasks be used by those attending.
