Jewel Dean, age 89, a lifelong resident of Baker, Florida passed away on March 8, 2019. She was born on July 9, 1929 in Florala, Alabama to Fred and Ida Belle Jordan. She worked at Stucky Nut Company and retired from Okaloosa County School system as a school bus driver. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing and quilting. Most of all she loved to cook and was always making sure everyone was fed and she loved her family.
Jewel Dean is preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Calvin Cunningham.
She is survived by her son, Larry Cunningham and wife Sharon; two grandsons, Trey Cunningham and wife Heather, and Scott Cunningham and wife Nicole; four great-grandchildren, Dillon, Allison, Summer and Jase.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 3-5:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. A celebration of Jewel Dean’s life will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:00am at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home, burial will follow in the Wing Cemetery. The family would like to say a “special thank you” to the staff of Silver Crest Manor for taking such good care of Granny.
