Jim Bennick, age 84, of Crestview, Florida went to be with his Lord on February 18, 2020. He was born in Concord, NC to Josie and James Bennick and was raised by Josie and Leonard Kiser most of his life. Jim was in the Air Force working as a firefighter for twenty years. He attended Liveoak Baptist church for over 20 years. He was a Gideon since 1989, he worked for Baptist disaster relief, and gave Gideon bibles out wherever he went. His family said he gave tips out in Gideon Bibles whenever he went out to eat. He loved to fish and be out in his bass fishing boat.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather and his brother, Herman Bennick.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gwen Bennick of Crestview; his daughter, Kim Landry (Rick) of Niceville, FL; and his grandchildren, Richard Landry III of Atlanta, GA, Jessica Landry of Niceville, FL, and Rebekah McEvoy (Chad) of Destin, FL; and a niece and nephews whom he loved.
Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Liveoak Baptist Church in Crestview, FL. officiated by Reverend Jerry Nelson, with a visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Liveoak Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Gideon International in his name as a way to honor him and continue his legacy.
