John Whitley

John Randen Whitley, age 49, of Ft Walton, FL, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, surrounded by

his loving family. He was born August 12, 1973, in Newport, Rhode Island.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend, Rachel Whitley; his daughter and

partner in crime, Raegen Whitley; his beloved parents, Loney and Janene Whitley; his brother, Shawn

Whitley; his parents-in-law, Rich and Jayne Maser along with numerous extended family and friends.

John was sharp and funny-the best kind of a friend. He loved his family fiercely and advocated

tirelessly for people he never met. He loved being a father, loved the beach and being outdoors, loved

concerts and camaraderie. He was passionate about politics and served as Okaloosa County

Democratic State Committeeman for six years.

Although John battled colon cancer for 15 months, he never let it define him. John will be

remembered for being fun, hilarious, real and honest. His spirit was caring, determined and

spontaneous. John was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed by all that had the honor of knowing

him.
