Joseph Parker Obituary

Joseph Wayne Parker, 75, of Crestview, FL passed away on July 18, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer with family at his side. Wayne was born on July 22, 1944 in Falco, AL to Lillian and James Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Haley Deason. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Denise Parker, two daughters Lori DeMarsico (Craig) of Crestview, FL and Christy Deason (John Paul) of Evergreen, AL. Three step children Lisa Jernigan (Tracy) of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Chris McIntosh (Andrea) of Tallahassee, FL, and Ronnie Stewart (Ashley) of Houston, TX. Two sisters, Helen Franklin (Billy) of Crestview FL, and Lillian Barnes of Baker, FL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Wayne retired from the State of Florida in 2005 as a protective investigator. He was proud of his career and enjoyed his time protecting vulnerable adults in the community. Wayne was a Baptist by faith, and had four other loves in his life. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, and he especially enjoyed playing a good prank on them. He loved his chickens and was known as the “chicken whisperer”. He loved spending hours on the river with his wife, Denise, talking about the world’s problems and how to solve them all while trying to out-fish her. Lastly, he loved Alabama football. He never missed an Alabama football game, and he cheered them on as they won several national titles. “Roll Tide!” A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the service following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tad Anderson officiating.
