Julian Jones age 72 of Laurel Hill passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2020 at his home. He was born in Laurel Hill on October 21, 1947, to Fred and Nellie Jones and has been a lifelong resident of Laurel Hill. He graduated from Laurel Hill High School in 1965. Julian served his country in the United States Navy for 4 years and then continued to serve in the Navy Reserves. He retired from the Department of Corrections after 29 years of service as a Corrections Officer. Julian loved to work and loved to stay busy, especially with yard work. He loved his family, but mostly those grandkids. No matter what they were involved in he would be there supporting them. Julian was a member of Campton Assembly of God and very active. On Sunday’s you could find him on the front row and dancing with his grandkids during praise and worship. Julian was preceded in death by his parents Nellie and Fred and a baby brother Richard Dale Jones. Survivors include his wife of 31 years Becky Jones; children: Lena Steele and husband Cliff, Amanda Rosen and husband Keith, and J.D. Jones and wife Jodi; siblings: Janice Milligan and husband Jerry, Joe Jones, Margaret Maines and husband Larry, Morris Jones and wife Belinda, Alice Sanders and husband Mack and Nancy Gonzalez and husband Carlos. The apple of his eye his grandchildren: Justin and Aliza Rosen; Haylee and Ava Steele; Sarie Jones, Jacob and Benjamin Stewart, Jeremy and Karissa Phillips, and Korey Culver. Also surviving is special friend and mother of his daughters Dianne Clemens and husband Randy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. The celebration of Julian’s life will be on Sunday June 14, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Johnson officiating.
