Latasha Primus Obituary

Latasha Nicole Primus, born on August 21, 1985, to Lisa Renee Holmes and Nathaniel Grimsley, lived a life defined by service, resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to others. She departed this life leaving behind a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Latasha was the beloved wife of Ruel Jason Primus and a devoted mother to Alexander Nathaniel Primus II and Avery Nicole Primus, who were the center of her world. She was a cherished sister to Joshua Harris, Nathaniel Jaquan Grimsley, Amanda Cecilia Williams, Brandon Omari Grimsley, and Shanika Christine Martin, and a loving daughter through marriage to Sandra Dee Grimsley.
From an early age, Latasha’s bright spirit was evident. She was a joyful child with a radiant smile, often found spending time with her father in the barbershop; curiously observing, playfully getting into mischief, and forming cherished memories. She excelled academically throughout her school years, demonstrating a drive and discipline that would define her life.
At just 17 years old, in April 2003, Latasha answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Air Force. During her distinguished military career, she earned numerous honors, including:
Air Force Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, U.S. Air Force NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Airman Leadership School Distinguished Graduate
Latasha was a stellar Noncommissioned Officer whose technical expertise, especially in microbiology, was unmatched. Even while serving, she pursued higher education with determination, earning an Associate of Science degree in 2007 and a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration with honors in 2010.
Though her military career was cut short by a medical retirement in 2012; ending her dream of becoming an officer in the Medical Service Corps, but Latasha’s resilience never wavered. She immediately continued her academic journey, enrolling in a dual Master’s program and graduating with honors once again.
She continued serving her country as a Contracting Specialist for the Department of the Air Force, where she managed and administered multi-million-dollar contracts, helping ensure that U.S. forces were equipped with the resources needed to defend the nation.
Despite all her professional accomplishments, Latasha would tell you her greatest achievement was becoming a mother. She welcomed her son Alexander on August 5, 2014, and her daughter Avery on January 19, 2018. Her children were her life’s purpose. She firmly believed that children were a blessing and deserved unconditional love, protection, and guidance.
Latasha was known for her warm, kind spirit and vibrant personality. She loved country music, R&B, and danced like no one was watching. She embraced joy without hesitation and was never afraid to be playful or “goofy.” Her presence was magnetic; people felt safe with her, opening up without fear of judgment. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved.
Though she was loved by many, she was deeply known by only a few. Her passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but her love, strength, and light will continue to guide those she leaves behind.
