Lavon (Garney) Settles

Lavon Garney Settles, age 84, of Crestview passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020. She was born in New Brockton, Alabama on July 1, 1936 to Ardelia Coleman Garney and William Ray Garney. Lavon married Douglas Ray Settles and was a resident of Crestview for the last sixty years. She retired from Crestview Nursing Home after 26 years of service as a nurse. She was a longtime member of Airport Road Church of Christ. Lavon was preceded in death by her parents, Ardelia and Ray Garney; her husband, Douglas Settles; and her brothers, Randolph and Wesley Garney.

She was survived by her children, Nancy Ann Brewer of Linwood, NC, Linda Sue Bass of Crestview, FL, Nila (Renee) Settles of Laurel Hill, FL, John Ray Settles of Panama City Beach, FL, and Emily Jane Peacock of Crestview, FL; brother, Elza Garney; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A private service for the family will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Lavon has requested donations to be made to Airport Road Church of Christ in support of the Mount Dora Children’s Home.
