Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Johnson (USAF Retired) age 90, died on December 15. He was born in Weleetka, Oklahoma on January 29, 1931 to Jeff and Billie Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years Addie Johnson, stepson Johnny Spicer, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. From his first marriage to Patricia Johnson he is survived by daughters Tracy McClimans (Les) and Jerri Hebert (Daniel deceased), 2 grandchildren Jeff and Stacy, his sister Billie Dahl and 2 nephews.
He had a distinguished military career as a pilot for 26 years. He was trained to fly every aircraft in use at that time and also was a pilot instructor. He was a Vietnam veteran flying the RF-4 aircraft and earned numerous medals and awards for his achievements in service to his country. He received the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Joint Commendation medal among others.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter, but his greatest legacy is husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had a special bond with his favorite dog Kyra aka Poochie. A gentle man of integrity, honesty and loyalty. A man of few words who let his actions speak for him. He was loved by all and will be forever honored.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 am at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with military honors.
