Madelyn A. Bender entered into rest Monday October 26th, 2020 surrounded by her family. Born November 5th, 1935 in Abilene, KS to the late Ralph E. and Ellen (nee Wilkerson) Longbine. She was Baptist by faith. Devoted to her family she was also a published poet and a cross stitch and puzzle expert. In a time before computers she transcribed books for the blind into braille for them. Always active in her faith, a long time member of Live Oak Baptist Church of Crestview, FL, she devoted time to be the supervisor of the children’s school, children’s and adult choir leader, Cub Scout & Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a devoted and cherished wife, an amazing woman of works and effort.
Madelyn is preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband Robert (USAF Retired). She is survived by her sons: Delvin of Holt, FL and Jody and his wife Angela of Warrior, AL and her daughter: Becky Carrol of Navarre Beach, FL. Her brother J.D. Longbine of Abilene, KS and her sister: Carol Sue Keating also of Abilene, KS. Madelyn was also the devoted grandmother to: Andi, Amber, Brandon and Nanny and great-grandmother to Asia, Tyler and Savannah.
Graveside services will be held at Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery 4565 Live Oak Church Road, Crestview, FL on Friday October 30, 2020 at 2pm with Pastor Jerry Nelson Officiating. Friends wishing to attend are asked to observe appropriate Covid-19 restrictions of masks and social distancing.
