Margrette (Batson) Dreading

Margrette Dreading, age 87, passed away on May 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1933 in Wing, Alabama to Arrie Smith and Milton Batson. Margrette graduated Salutatorian from Escambia Farms High School in 1951. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was instrumental in fundraising and working to build the new church. Margrette worked and retired from Southeastern Telephone Company(Centel). She enjoyed travelling with her sister, Noma Rae and attending family events.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Justus Dreading; brothers, Clarence and Billy Batson; and sisters, Marie Kelly and Doris Barrow.

Margrette is survived by her son, Marcus J. Dreading; daughters, Donna Marie Morris(David) and Teresa Gail Smith; sister, Noma Rae Motley; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation with the family will be held at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 1-2:00pm with funeral service starting at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Wing Cemetery.
