Marie Anice Merritt

Marie Anice Merritt age 77 of Baker FL. Passed away Sunday night October 1, 2023 at

Crestview Rehabilitation in Crestview FL. Marie was born in Florala AL. on August 2, 1946, and worked as a schoolteacher in Okaloosa County for over 22 years. Marie loved the Lord and was active in Acteens, Women’s Auxiliary, Girls in action, and loved mission work. She was a girl’s leader for over 40 years.

Marie also loved canning & freezing vegetable, scrap booking and tea parties. Marie was a member of Garden City Baptist church.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Winston Merritt, Dad Thomas Driggers, Mom Mary Driggers, Brother Thomas C. Driggers JR., Sister Marcha Casselman.

 She is survived by her son, Michael Merritt & wife Nicole Merritt, Sisters Margaret Bovard, & Mary Creech, Daughter in heart Tammy Taylor and husband Shannon Taylor. Best Friend Gene Bradley and husband Jeff Bradley.

Grandchildren Philip Merritt, Michaela Wallace, Hunter Merritt, Michaela Carte, Hannah Cain, Emma Cain, Jessica Taylor Moore, Shannon C. Taylor II & Preston Taylor. Great granddaughter Jennah Cain.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 5:00-7:00pm at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church starting at 10:00am.
