Mary Alberts Obituary

Mary Alberts, 79, loved and adored mother, grandmother, Big Sister, Friend. The Sweetest of Hearts, went to be at peace amongst the Angels, September 7th, 2022.

Mary was born on September 28th, 1942, in Fargo, North Dakota, the eldest child of four to Constantine and Violet. Mary was raised in Moorhead, Minnesota and proudly graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College Campus High School, she went on to attend Moorhead State Teachers College (MSTC), now called Moorhead State University. While involved in her studies, Mary would go on to meet and marry Darrell Alberts, also a Moorhead native, whom she often referred to as the most kind and gentle man she has ever met. As a military spouse, she traveled the world gaining a lifetime of culture and knowledge, discovering the value of teaching the English language in other countries and the fulfillment of building a family.

In 1975 Mary continued her path in life and enlisted in the Air Force Reserves, as well as embarking on a fulltime Civil Service Career. An integral member of the 919th SOW at Duke Field, she proudly served and excelled to the rank of Master Sargent. She cherished her time at Duke Field and developed many lifelong friendships along the way. After 28yrs of dedicated service Mary found retirement, but she would not rest there and would continue her passion of Humanitarian Devotion.

Mary valued her country, community, church and humankind. She was an active member of the, New Bethel Methodist Church of Crestview, FL, The Dogwood Garden Club, Red Hats Society, Friends of the First Lady, AMVETS Post 35, American Legion Post 75, and the VFW Post 5450.

Mary was a strong and courageous breast cancer survivor of over 25yrs, she was proud to advocate, volunteer and donate to The American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life. She was a confidant and friend to many, a soft shoulder to lean on even when she was struggling herself, she was humble.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her significant other of over 30yrs, Russell Chamberlain and she thoroughly loved laughing out loud with her friends. Mary adored her granddaughter she loved all her family. She was proud of their accomplishments, their smiles and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them.
